The National Ornamental Metal Museum is a Memphis treasure that is all-too-neglected by local residents. With its lovely setting high on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River, the museum is an attractive place to walk and catch one-of-a-kind glimpses of the river. The buildings, originally part of a US Naval Station, are also historic and attractive. But the metal artwork is the real attraction of the museum, with unique pieces displayed all over the beautifully-landscaped grounds. Also, unlike most other museums, visitors can watch artisans at work and see how ornamental metalworks are created.
